Our goal on ELI trips is that people encounter God while being led in an experiential environment

Daniel + Sherry Teerman

Daniel and Sherry have been in ministry together for over 17 years serving as missionaries, educators and pastors.  Having led literally hundreds of people on mission/learning experiences around the world they bring a unique bent on cultural exegesis (how the message of the gospel is heard in a particular culture) in the very land in which the gospel was written. Daniel has studied missional contexts and the roots of the Judeo-Christian culture extensively, having spent time in Israel and abroad.  He is a graduate of Kuyper College, Western Theological Seminary and has studied at Jerusalem University College.  He is the author of Where Do I Begin? and The Discipleship Coaching Journal.  Together, Daniel and Sherry have planted a discipleship movement in Portage, Michigan called - the bridge - where they currently serve.  But most of all, they are the proud parents of 4 children - Caleb, Hannah, Jada and Sophia - whom they adore.

Trip Philosophy
Our study tours are interactive, personal and physical.  We have a great deal of fun, but it would not be accurate to view the tour as a vacation.  There is some free time, but much of the time is structured to maximize the experience.  The group moves together as “the Church,” as we shepherd and care for one another.  Learning how to follow as Jesus’ talmidim (disciples) will be key, to receive the most benefit.  We blend a mixture of traditional and non-traditional sites, often going “off the beaten path” to see a new perspective not found on a typical bus tour.  Preparation physically and spiritually is necessary.

Come And See
Come and see the Bible come to life in order to enrich yours.  Experience “The Land” as you learn with your legs, explore with your senses and are moved in your soul.  You will experience the following that will impact your walk with Jesus and your understanding of the Bible as you Come and See:

  • The Temple Mount and the Western Wall
  • The fortresses of Herod the Great, including Masada and the Herodian
  • The Living Word, as you read and study in its original context
  • Archeological sites as we explore the ancient ruins
  • As you hear from the different people living in the land today, echoes of ancient conflicts in the modern situation, along with future hopes
  • By hiking the beauty of a geologically diverse land (this land was built for dependence on God)
  • By swimming in the Sea of Galilee and floating in the Dead Sea
  • Qumran and the Dead Sea Scrolls
  • Holocaust and National Israeli Museums
  • The history and culture connected to the stories of the Old and New Testaments
  • By exploring the places of Jesus’ life and ministry as we learn to listen and follow.
